Created Date: 6/2/1998 10:59:39 AM. Extends the field of application of ISO 7498 to cover secure communications between open systems. Adds to the concepts and principles included in ISO 7498 but does not modify them. Is no implementation specification, nor a basis for assessing the conformance of actual implementations. ISO and IEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. ISO/IEC 9798-1 was prepared by Joint Technical Committee ISO/IEC JTC 1, Information technology, Subcommittee SC 27, IT Security techniques. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition (ISO/IEC 9798-1:1997), which has been technically. This part of ISO 7498 extends the field of application of ISO 7498, to cover secure communications between open systems. Basic security services and mechanisms and their appropriate placement have been identified for all layers of the Basic Reference Model. Cancels and replaces the first edition (1984). The model provides a common basis for the coordination of standards development for the purpose of systems interconnection, while allowing existing standards to be placed into perspective within the overall Reference Model.
Iso/iec 7498-1 The Basic Model
- defines general mechanisms for the use of names and addresses to identify and locate objects in the OSIE; and
- defines the use of these mechanisms within the layered structure of the Basic Reference Model.
This Recommendation | International Standard extends the concepts and principles defined in ITU-T Rec. X.200 | ISO/IEC 7498-1. This Recommendation | International Standard is not intended to be either an implementation specification or a basis for appraising the conformance of actual implementations.
